Human remains recovered

Police in Ngundu have recovered human remains at Dambuguru Mountain which were hidden in a shallow grave while police in Mutoko have found a body of a decomposing man along a river.

Investigations on the cases are still in progress.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed.

“On November 8, 2021, police in Ngundu received a report of human remains at Dambuguru Mountain, Chipeta, Chivi. The remains which comprise a human skull and a few bones were in what appeared to be a shallow grave covered with some stones.

“In a related case, on November 6, 2021 a body of an unknown male adult was found along Nyaunga River, Charewa, Mutoko. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition. Investigations are underway,” he said.

Meanwhile, police have confirmed the arrest of Simon Gwape (36), Sakahelene Bulala (43),Thubelihle Ngwenya (26) Calisto Marira (42), Mthandazo Moyo (26) , Mehluli Gumede (24) and Earnest Tshuma (34) in connection with a murder case which occurred on November 7 at Mpolompolo village, Durban area, Inyathi.

The suspects teamed up and assaulted Dumisani Madzikanda (36) with switches and logs after an argument over gold ore.

Police in Mbembesi are also investigating a murder case that occurred on November 7 at 2000 hours in Ntabazinduna Township.

The victim was stabbed in the chest with an okapi knife by a suspect only identified as Samamo or Khuluza.

The victim had tried to restrain the suspect from assaulting his girlfriend only identified as Kimberly, after an argument in which she requested the suspect’s cellphone to light up the way along the road.

Police in Chitungwiza are also investigating another murder case in which Shingirayi Tamayi (30) died on November 7 at 0900 hours, while admitted at Chitungwiza Central Hospital after he was struck on the ear with an empty bottle by Charles Petros (46) on the same day at 2 am at Ganyawu Shopping Centre, Unit F.

Tamayi had tried to restrain Petros from fighting with Gesham Chikwa (24) over a previous murder case in which Gesham Chikwa was involved.

In a related case, police in Harare are investigating a murder case in which Ashley Shumba (25) died whilst admitted at Sally Mugabe Hospital on November 7, after he was assaulted with a sjambok and a pipe by Tatenda Zvomuuya alias Muzuda, Magaya as well Lanceburg alias Mhanduwe on November 5 at Block 13C11 Matapi Flats, Mbare.

The suspects accused the victim of stealing two cellphones that belonged to Lanceburg. The suspects are on the run and anyone with information to contact any nearest Police Station.
