LONDON. – A man accidentally ran over and killed his wife while they were out for a “scenic drive” in the country- side.

A UK court has heard that Jim McAloon (52) tragically ran over and killed wife Vanessa (48) after she lost control of her motorbike in November 2016, the Daily Mail reports.

The couple had gone for a drive to celebrate Vanessa’s recovery from cancer. But at Penny Bridge, Pembroke Dock in West Wales, Vanessa had to slam on brakes to avoid an oncoming Vauxhall Corsa, which was trying to overtake a tractor.

Vanessa was thrown from her bike and Jim, who had been travelling just behind his wife, drove right over her.

According to Metro UK, Swansea Crown Court heard that Jim was “un- able to do anything except ride over his own wife” after she lost control.

Vanessa, who was due for one last session of chemotherapy the day after her death, died from her injuries after the accident. According to The Mirror, Jim’s daughter Rebecca Bockhart said in a written statement to the court that her mother’s death had “devastated” their family.

“Without her we feel empty,” the statement read.

“I cannot describe the devastation. He (Jim) saw the accident and was himself injured.”

Vanessa was described as a loving mother and wife who was excited about the future.

The 84-year-old driver of the Corsa was recently found guilty of death by careless driving. She was sentenced to one year in prison and banned from driving for two years. – The Mirror/Daily Mail/Metro UK.
