Players in the tourism sector have said the new political dispensation has set the industry on a growth trajectory as witnessed by the increased tourist arrivals in the country since the beginning of the year.

Addressing delegates attending the Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe (HAZ) winter school in Gweru, HAZ president Mr Innocent Manyera said the Zimbabwe is open for business mantra championed by President Mnangagwa had ignited a lot of zeal for the international community to explore destination Zimbabwe.

“We are in a new dispensation where we have to do away with the old ways of thinking,” he said. “It is now time go beyond just embedding business ethics and good corporate governance into our business strategies to improve our profits.

“Creating a reputation for destination Zimbabwe and a good public image for our industry requires executors not spectators.”

Mr Manyera said the hospitality industry was characterised by a lot of investments to spruce up existing services and benchmark it with international standards.

“We are coming from a decade of stagnation and now moving towards business productivity,” he said. “We are now able to invest our profits back into our businesses.”
