A United Kingdom-based group, which is made up of people who were bred in Mhondoro, has raised funds to build two care centres for vulnerable people in their home area.

The group, Action is Eloquence Foundation, said the gesture was part of giving back to the Mhondoro community that raised them. In an interview with The Herald, leader of the group Ms Tyra Chinjekure said Mhondoro was one of the richest constituencies in the province, yet most people were still living in poverty.

“We still have children who cannot pay school fees, people who cannot afford to buy new clothes and live a decent life,” she said. “As a group, we came up with a foundation that can give back to the community that bore us.

“We are mobilising resources to build two play centres for children and vulnerable adults in Mhondoro. So far, we have engaged the council to get land. We expect to build the centres in Mamina and Zimplats areas, and as soon as land is availed, we will kick-start the operation.”

Mhondoro is one of the constituencies that hold significant platinum resources. It also has other minerals such as chrome and gold.
