zanu-pf secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Pupurai Togarepi has said the new Government to be appointed by President Mnangagwa will roll out tangible economic empowerment projects for youths to promote the spirit of patriotism.

Cde Togarepi said President Mnangagwa’s new administration will line up a number of programmes tailor-made to empower youths through-out the country and prioritise economic revival using home-grown solutions.

He told The Herald in an interview recently that the new zanu-pf Government to be appointed soon will prioritise youth empowerment in line with the recommendations made by the ruling party.

“It is within the strategic planning of the ruling party to train youths so that they become self-reliant,” he said.

“Our assessment as party leaders is that only tangible economic development would succeed in promoting patriotism among youths.

“Patriotism entails the love of or loyalty to our own country and all what’s in it. Its economy, politics, principles, among other things.

“We have discovered that some youths become unpatriotic in the face of economic hardships. Hence the new Government is striving to revive the economy.”

Cde Togarepi said the new Government was finalising modalities with local banks to secure loans for youths in mining, agriculture and manufacturing, among other sectors.

“The reason why some of our youths have been aligned with the opposition MDC-Alliance is not because they liked the opposition leaders,” he said.

“It is because of the common belief that the current economic woes were literally caused by zanu-pf, since it has been in power for many years.

“We can again safely say that those who voted the opposition during the previous election did so out of protest over the state of the economy, not because they liked the opposition. But then, they need to understand that the new leadership under President Mnangagwa has a different approach to economic issues.

“It shuns corruption and promotes investment.”
