Government says it will only quarantine Ebola patients and suspects will be screened thoroughly and be monitored for 21 days to determine if they do not contract the deadly disease.Health and Child Welfare Minister Dr David Parirenyatwa, said no suspects would be quarantined.

Minister Parirenyatwa had earlier been quoted as saying Zimbabwe would quarantine suspects who travel to Zimbabwe while fielding questions in Senate on Thursday.

“We will screen thoroughly those coming from countries with Ebola. Thereafter we will monitor them for 21 days because the disease has an incubation period of 21 days. It is only those who would have been confirmed to have Ebola that we will quarantine,” said Minister Parirenyatwa.

He said it was important the disease be confined in those countries it originated from.

“We are concerned with this travel issue at our airports here in Harare and Bulawayo. Everyone, from the affected countries should be thoroughly screened for 21 days to see if their temperatures was not rising.”
