HARAMBEE HOLDINGS chief executive Mr David Govere’s two houses and a residential stand in Harare were last Friday auctioned to settle a US$112 000 debt he owed a local company.Mr Govere owed Ordeco (Private) Limited rentals, and his houses in Emerald Hill and Waterfalls, and a stand in Mt Pleasant Heights, were auctioned by Hammer & Tongues to settle the debt.

The debt was accrued after Ordeco leased one of its properties in the city to Coldrac Products (Private) Limited trading as Tacoola Beverages between 2009 and 2011.

Mr Govere is one of the directors of Coldrac Products. The matter was heard at the High Court with Ordeco represented by Mr Archford Rutanhi; while Mr Govere – who was cited as the first respondent – was represented by Mr Norman Bvekwa.

Mr Rutanhi argued that Mr Govere, personally or with other directors, conducted the business of Coldrac Products recklessly and/or with intent to defraud Ordeco.

Mr Govere denied the allegations and added that he was not the only Coldrac director with immovable property that could be attached.
However, the High Court ruled that Mr Govere, as the first respondent, was liable for payment of the entire debt.

It ordered sale of the two houses and the stand which were registered in Mr Govere’s name to pay off Ordeco and its legal costs.
