Goromonzi robbery suspect arrested

The police have arrested one of the six armed robbers who were recently caught on CCTV while ransacking a house at Pircy Farm in Goromonzi, before getting away with US$3 000 and other valuables.
This comes after the images of the six suspects were released.
Police appealed for information from members of the public, leading to their arrest.
The six robbers who were armed with machetes and pistols gained entry to the farm by cutting the backyard fence.
They entered the kitchen through an open door before attacking the farm owners.
The gang stole US$3 000, clothes, two speakers, three cellphones, laptops, jewellery, groceries and three firearms.
The firearms, two shotguns and a pellet gun, were later recovered in the backyard of the farm.
In a statement, national police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi said they have arrested one of the suspects.
“Reference is made to the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s press statement released on November 6, 2024, regarding a case of armed robbery which occurred at Pircy Farm, Goromonzi, on November 3 where US$3 000 and valuables worth US$10 000 were stolen.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Sarezi Shonhiwa aged 57 in connection with the robbery case.
“On November 9, 2024, detectives from CID Homicide, Harare, arrested the suspect at Zin’anga Village, Seke, after receiving information that he was one of the suspects captured on CCTV during the robbery incident,” he said.
The suspect admitted that he is one of the suspects and implicated Godfrey Mapanzure, Brian Chiyanwa, Tawanda Manokore and one Mhofu as his accomplices.
