DEFENDING Harare Basketball Association champions Foxes men’s A team coach Kelvin Ben has bemoaned financial constraints which are affecting their progress following the departure of some key players.

Ben made the remarks after his side lost 64-68 to Raiderz at Richwood at the weekend. Foxes were dealt a blow when such key players like Tatenda Tswatswa, left to join rivals Harare City Hornets and Chris Tsvarai moved to a Zambian club. The defending champions rely on a thin budget with is literally a hand to mouth basis and this has stifled plans to retain talented players. Ben said their encounter against Raiderz “was a bit tough and challenging which led to their sudden defeat’’.

“The point is Foxes are building their team from scratch, we could not keep the players we had last season due to financial constraints. We had to shop around and get new players, whereby they have to adapt to our style of play in a short space of time, somehow it’s starting to shape now,” he said.
