Former Liberation Movement (FLM) in Southern Africa youth wings have reaffirmed their support for preservation and promotion of the legacy of armed revolution which shapes and define the ideology of revolutionary parties.

Representing the FLM youth at the 10th Secretaries Generals meeting in Victoria Falls last week, Zanu-PF Secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Lewis Matutu said the youth wing was committed to abide by the revolutionary ethos.

“The wing is committed to preserve and promote the legacy of armed revolution that continues to shape the defining ideology, developmental thrust and human ethos of the Southern African region.

“Guided by the vision, hopes and aspirations of the founding parents of our revolutionary liberation movements in the region, inclusive of our attachment to the virtues and values of our historical and traditional unity and peace, convinced that the region’s youthful population is its greatest asset, constituting a combined critical demographic dividend for Liberation Movements,” said Cde Matutu.

He said there was need for FML Member-States to monitor the activities of Western forces who are spearheading demonstrations in Zimbabwe and Xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

“Appalled by crisis and dilemma action manoeuvres being perpetrated against Zimbabwe and South Africa by hostile western elements, culminating in destructive violent anti-state demonstrations and Afro-phobic attacks,” he said.

Cde Matutu added that FLM should expedite institutionalism of schools of ideology based on common, shared revolutionary curriculum, and further enjoin governments to implement compliant mainstream school curriculum from kindergarten to inculcate patriotism among nationals from attender age.

Member states, he said should establish scholarships, re-engage with pro-established countries as used to happen during the liberation struggle to facilitate non-ideologically threatening scholarships extended to youth.

He called FLM members states to monitor the activities of some NGOs as a way of counter the manipulation of youth.

“To counter online ideological manipulation of youth by compelling respective governments to channel resources and establishing own mechanisms to monitor the activities of NGOs.

“There is also need to revive and strengthen the parties cadre-ship development policy, including structured and compulsory ideological training programmes for nurturing a broad human capital base for deployment to critical and strategic positions in both the party and Government,” he said.
