First Lady and zanu-pf Women Affairs secretary Amai Grace Mugabe resumes her rallies of connecting with the people in Harare today before heading to the Midlands Province tomorrow.

She has already been to Matabeleland North, Mashonaland West, Mashonaland Central and Manicaland, emphasising the need for zanu-pf members to unite and work towards improving people’s livelihoods.

On Saturday, Amai Mugabe and her team will be at Murehwa Growth Point, Mashonaland East.

zanu-pf Harare provincial political commissar Cde Shadreck Mashayamombe, yesterday said the province was ready to host the First Lady. He urged all zanu-pf followers from the party’s 239 districts in Harare to come in their thousands for the event.

“It is all systems go for the event, which will be at the Chishawasha grounds in Mbare,” he said.

“We started our preparations last week and today we are busy finalising the seating arrangements. To the people we say come in your numbers to hear the wise words from our First Lady.”

In Mashonaland East, zanu-pf provincial chairperson Cde Joel Biggie Matiza, said the First Lady was coming home and deserved a resounding welcome.

The First Lady hails from Chikomba District in Mashonaland East.

Said Cde Matiza: “We are preparing and putting final touches, but most things are in place. People should come in numbers and warmly welcome her as she is coming to her home province.”

The First Lady has brought a new approach in zanu-pf and has repeatedly said that politicians do not have to wait for elections to find out the challenges being faced by the people.

During her tours, she has not spared party officials accused of rekindling factionalism and attempting to create their own centres of power.

Instead of petty fights, she has emphasised, members should expend their energies on delivering on the mandate bestowed on them by the electorate in the 2013 harmonised elections.

Amai Mugabe heads into Mashonaland East weeks after party provincial deputy chairperson, Cde Bernard Makokove, had announced the suspension of Cde Matiza, Women’s League provincial chair Cde Apolonia Munzverengi and Youth League chairperson Cde Kelvin Mutsvairo.

Cde Matiza subsequently turned the tables hours later after convening his own meeting of the provincial executive that fired the rival group, led by Cde Makokove.

Cde Matiza’s suspension was lifted after national commissar Cde Saviour Kasukuwere, visited the province and declared that the provincial structure that was elected into office in July, supervised by Politburo member Cde Edna Madzongwe, remained substantive.
