Customer Service Week, held annually during the first full week of October.
Guest of honour Minister of Economic Planning and Investment Promotion Tapiwa Mashakada said effective customer services could play a significant role in the development of the economy.
“Customer service is a catalyst for economic and social growth and will always be high on the national agenda,” he said.

“Whilst service delivery has been a cause of concern, this is now the time for Government and private sector partnership to ensure bottom-line success on service delivery.”
The event was well attended by representatives from both the private and public sector.

In the hospitality sector, the top award was scooped by African Sun, while Meikles Africa was first runner-up, and Rainbow Towers, the second runner-up.
The top prize in the information and communication technology (ICT) and telecommunications sector went to Econet Wireless Zimbabwe, followed by Telecel Zimbabwe. NetOne was third. The Best Call Centre Award was scooped by Telecel, with Econet second and NetOne third. In the Banking and Financial Services Sector, the winner was CBZ Bank, BancABC was in second place and Kingdom Bank came third.

For Local Government and Utilities, the top prize was scooped by the City of Bulawayo, followed by the City of Mutare while the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority was in third position.  Among medical aid institutions, Cimas was the winner, followed by PSMAS, with FML in third position.
In the insurance sector (Assurance, Funeral, Life, Reassuarance), the winner was Nyaradzo, while Doves and NicozDiamond came in second and third place, respectively. Pathfinder scooped the service excellence award in the transport sector, while City Link was the first runner-up, followed by Pioneer.

In the fast foods sector, Chicken Slice scooped the top prize, with Chicken Inn coming second and TN Mart & Grill third. The Midlands State University took the first prize in the tertiary education sector, followed by the University of Zimbabwe and Africa University.
In the automobile sector, the top service excellence award was scooped by Toyota Zimbabwe, with Croco Motors first runner-up, and Clover Leaf Motors  second runner-up. For the security sector, Securico took first place, Fawcett second position and SafeGuard third.

The 2012 Corporate Social Responsibility Award went to Mbada Diamonds, first runner-up was Delta Corporation with Econet Wireless second runner-up.
Econet Wireless was back in the mix again as its founder Mr Strive Masiyiwa received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

According to CCAZ patron Mr Herbert Nkala, the customer service excellence awards are meant to “support and nurture a culture of service excellence in Zimbabwean companies and provide a dynamic opportunity to generate a stronger commitment to service excellence”.
