Building materials supplier, PG Industries Zimbabwe (PGIZ), a leading processor of timber has donated building material worth thousands of dollars to Hosanna Love in Africa Children’s Home in Hatcliffe yesterday as part of its corporate social responsibility.

The donation was in form of building material which included bags of cement glass, putty, thinners, standard doors locksets, window sills which would assist in the construction of new accommodation facilities at the orphanage home.

Speaking during the handover ceremony PGIZ Group head of sales and marketing Phoebe Wei said the donation would go a long way in aiding in the construction of accommodation and classroom blocks, adding the group company had an obligation to fulfil in assisting the vulnerable and the needy in the society.

“I am very honoured, on behalf of PG Industries Zimbabwe Shareholders and Staff, to be able to present a donation to the Children’s Home and Hosanna Primary school as part of our corporate social responsibility.

‘‘As an organisation we fully understand what the children need and hope. And we also understand what shelter and education means for them,” said Mrs Wei.

She said Zimbabwe is a nation whose hope relies on children and they need proper care and education. The orphanage has 24 children and is expected to accommodate more after the construction of other accommodation facilities which has been set in motion following through the donation.

Mrs Wen also said the donation would push President Mnangagwa’s vision enshrined in the Transitional Stabilisation Programme as it would pave way for quality education by creating an enabling environment for learning as adequate facilities would be available.

“These building materials will enhance learning environment as there will be adequate classrooms and shelter for our children. It will indirectly push our President’s vision of TSP as quality education is another main cluster,” she said.

Mrs Wei pledged to continue rendering support to the Children’s Home to ensure transformation at the institution.

Hosanna Love in Africa Children’s Home director, Abel Chivambo, expressed gratitude to PGIZ adding the donation come at the right time of need.
