CHAMPIONS FC Platinum yesterday completed the signing of former Ajax Cape Town and Golden Arrows striker Thomas Chideu. The forward, who crossed the Limpopo in 2015, after a good run of form at Highlanders to join Ajax Cape Town before moving to Golden Arrows last year, has been clubless after being axed by Arrows.

The 21-year-old striker struggled at Arrows where he cored only two goals in seven appearances in all competitions under coach Clinton Larsen.
He was subsequently offloaded by the club last month.

However, the forward believes he can find his touch again and will now work under the guidance of coach Norman Mapeza.
FC Platinum are looking to consolidate their lead at the summit of the standings and have turned to the former Young Warriors forward to add bite to their strike force.

Club media liaison officer Chido Chizondo confirmed the arrival of Chideu, but could not shed more light on his contract.
“We have today (yesterday) completed the signing of Thomas on a short-term contract and is now one of our players. It is short-term contract and at this stage we are not yet commenting on the duration of his stay here, what I can say is that he is now part of us. He is a talented player who has proved that over the years and we are confident he will add value to our team as we go into the second half of the season,” said Chizondo.

Their solid backline, which was only breached five times in the first half of the season, has often bailed the shortcomings of their attack. They have become specialists in winning matches by 1-0 margins.

But their strength at the back is likely to be tested by the possible departure of Kelvin Moyo, who is in demand from a number of South African clubs.
