FC PLATINUM stand-in coach Lizwe Sweswe is happy with his side’s progression despite failing to beat personal target of winning his opening five Castle Lager Premiership soccer matches after watching his charges dispatch Chapungu at Ascot yesterday.

Victory against the Air Force of Zimbabwe side was ensured with two goals in the second half from veteran Ali Sadiki and Gift Mbweti.

Sweswe had set himself a personal target of winning his opening five league matches but he has managed four wins and one draw against CAPS United in the capital.

FC Platinum together with Ngezi Platinum are the only teams that are yet to concede a goal after five rounds of matches this season.

In fact, it is fellow platinum miners and early pacesetters Ngezi Platinum, under coach Tonderayi Ndiraya, who have won their opening five leagues matches on the trot.

At Ascot yesterday, Chapungu dominated the opening half but a bit of tactical masterstroke carried the day for Sweswe who made some changes in the second half to take control of the game.

Sweswe said his team has done well and is very happy with the way they have been playing so far in the league.
“As a team what is very important is to take each game as it comes, our target was (to win) the first five games but fine, we did not win all, we had a draw (against CAPS United).

“But so far so good. We have managed those four wins and a draw and for now we push on and see where we end up being at.
“I am happy with the way we have been playing so far and I can say we are on the right direction,” Sweswe said.
“During half-time we changed the way we were playing, I just told the guys “let us play our passing game”.

“Football is about scoring goals if you just have possession without scoring goals it does not help and I am happy we managed to get the goals and win the match,” said Sweswe.

Chapungu were left to rue for a number of missed chances they failed to capitalise on after a dominant first half.
Moenda Muchingami got the first chance with a dinking shot from a distance but it was just inches over the cross bar.

Allan Tavarwisa got another chance but slightly missed the target and veteran Philip Marufu who played very well in the opening half was denied by the woodwork with his effort crashing against the upright a minute before half-time.

Chapungu coach Tendai Chikuni was a dejected man at the final whistle for losing a game they could have wrapped up in the opening half.

“It has been the case the way we have been playing, we create chances and failed to score then you are punished.
“Tactically we were better than FC Platinum and it is just unfortunate we did not convert our chances and we ended up losing the game,” said Chikuni.
