Fake money backfires

A Harare woman appeared in court for allegedly trying to use fake RTGS to buy groceries in TM Pick n Pay supermarket in the central business district  (CBD).

Sikhangele Moyo (24) was found with fake RTGS$195 and US$15 and was ordered to surrender all the money in her possession after she was caught.

The complainant is Pick n Pay represented by Mr Simba Tabe, whose position is not stated.

Moyo appeared before Mrs Tendai Muchina facing charges of Possession of Articles for Criminal use as defined in section 40(1) of The Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 09:23.

She pleaded guilty and the matter was remanded to tomorrow (April 24) in custody.

In her defence, Moyo told the court that she was a victim of circumstances.

“I do admit to the charge but I did not know that the money was fake,” she  said.
