FC PLATINUM have been presented with a golden opportunity to leave the CAF Champions’ League group stages with a win, after their opponents Esperance of Tunisia, brought a weakened side of only 15 players. The defending champions are already confirmed as group winners ahead of today’s battle at Barbourfields, while FC Platinum will anchor the table.

Esperance coach Mouine Chaabani arrived in Bulawayo yesterday with only 15 players to battle the Zimbabwean champions.
Eighteen-year-old Zied Berrima is set to become the youngest player to feature in this year’s edition of the group stages if he gets a run this afternoon.

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza says his men have been improving with each passing game and expects a fighting performance today.

“We have been working hard towards our game tomorrow (today), like I said, we have been improving in each and every game,’’ he said.

“If you look at our performance against Orlando Pirates, you can tell that we are improving.
“The boys have been working very hard and I hope we will perform better.
“I am just hopeful we will continue with the same or better performance to the one we showed against Orlando Pirates last week on Friday.’’

The miners will be without the suspended trio of Kevin Moyo, Gift Bello and Kelvin Madzongwe for this game.
