Blessings Chidakwa in Kadoma
Government has called for constant auditing of non-governmental organisation activities across Zimbabwe with some of them accused of abandoning their mandate to dabble in politics.

Speaking during a tour of foster homes and public institutions in Kadoma recently, Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Deputy Minister Lovemore Matuke took a swipe at some NGOs that were fighting against Government instead of complementing it.

He said Government would also complement efforts by NGOs to look after the advantaged across Zimbabwe.
“As a ministry we are going out to complement foster homes and private players’ efforts by supplying whatever we receive from our stakeholders,” he said.

“The purpose of the trip is to appreciate what is happening and collecting first-hand information on the ground. Our administration has an open door policy, it is not protocol that matters most to us, but dealing directly with the people and addressing their issues.”

Deputy Minister Matuke said most foster homes across Zimbabwe did not have adequate furniture or vehicles, adding that Government would also assist in alleviating these challenges.

“I salute all the employees for working under such difficult circumstances, the determination and zeal exudes your highest levels of patriotism in the quest of rebuilding the Zimbabwe we want,” he said.
Deputy Minister Matuke urged NGOs to follow protocol and stick to their core business.

“There should be a constant auditing of NGO activities. Some of them on the ground, they will be doing activities contrary their core thrust they pledged when seeking permission to operate,” he said.

Deputy Minister Matuke said Government remained indebted to foster homes that are taking care of the vulnerable in society.
He also handed over a donation of 30 tonnes of rice and 10 beds to Kadoma Training Institute during his tour.

Deputy Minister Matuke paid tribute to employees who worked under difficult conditions but were determined to work for the people.

He said Zimbabwe was safe under President Mnangagwa’s leadership.
Deputy Minister Matuke said it was ill-advised to expect more from the Government when it had inherited challenges that have been building up for decades.
