The National Blood Service Zimbabwe (NBSZ) has adequate blood units for the festive season, the organisation’s Head of Planning and Recruitment Mr Tichaona Saira has said.

NBSZ, launched its festive season blood collection campaign early this month and has so far collected over 90 percent of their target.
The campaign target is to raise 9 400 units of blood by the end of January 2020.

In an interview with The Herald yesterday, Mr Saira said the response was overwhelming.
“The response we are getting from people for our festive season blood collection is overwhelming and so far we have collected over 90 percent of our target,” Mr Saira said.

“We have managed to collect blood from major cities, towns and growth points across the country.
“We managed to reach most of our targets, for example, in Mutare our target was 414 units, but we collected 580 units which was quite impressive.”

“For Harare our target was 600 units and we collected 500, for Bulawayo our target was 350 and we collected 258.”
Mr Saira said by the end of next month they would have reached their target.
