Energy cooperation continues to write a new chapter in China-Mozambique friendship

The results of cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative in Mozambique are obvious. As an important participant, the Belt and Road Initiative has brought opportunities for poverty reduction and economic development to Mozambique, and has also expanded investment areas for CNPC, where I work.

Mozambique is rich in oil and natural gas resources, which has attracted the attention and participation of many oil companies.

Based on the principle of joint development and win-win cooperation, outstanding professionals from 6 different countries and different cultural backgrounds were selected to work in a local joint company called Coral .

China National Petroleum Corporation, where I work, has also dispatched a large number of experienced and outstanding management and technical personnel to the joint company.

This year is my fifth year working in CNPC, and I am currently responsible for the procurement work of the company in Mozambique. Over the course of my 5-year career, I have realized the importance of teamwork, especially for deepwater LNG production operations.

A single supplier or contractor cannot complete the entire industry. It requires multiple parties to learn from each other’s strengths and work together to complete various tasks with high standards.

Therefore, every time I encounter a problem at work, I insist on researching and discussing solutions with colleagues in the team and team members from different countries.

Together, we have successfully completed a number of deep-sea natural gas related equipment and technical services. Procurement work. I have grown significantly in this international cooperation arena. At the same time, the world’s deepest deep-sea floating liquefied natural gas project was successfully put into operation, which also promoted the economic and social development of my motherland, Mozambique.

Last year,Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi announced the start of the export of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in Mozambique, as the oil tanker British Sponsor has already left Mozambican territorial waters carrying the first cargo of LNG produced by the Coral South Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) project in the north of the country.

Integrating the world’s most cutting-edge deep-sea LNG technology, Coral South FLNG contains a floating production platform installed 80 kilometers offshore Mozambique in the southern part of Area 4 of the Rovuma Basin. It has a production capacity of 3.4 million tonnes of LNG per year from wells located in 2,000-meter water depth with a design life of 25 years.

The offshore “blue gold” is becoming a “blessing” to my country and people. Our cooperation with China has achieved win-win results. We have seen that China is a global leader in the economic field and will continue to lead our development with China as a role model.

In my opinion, CNPC not only supports Mozambique’s energy industry, but also cares about the development of social welfare undertakings. Over the years, CNPC has cooperated and signed a framework agreement with the National Petroleum Company of Mozambique to provide local training opportunities and is committed to improving the professional skills of employees.

I still remember that in 2019, as part of its corporate social responsibility, CNPC donated more than 200,000 US dollars to the National Disaster Relief Bureau of Mozambique during the Typhoon Idai disaster to help my hometown and residents repair houses, Provide material and drinking water to help them return to their homes.

They also attach great importance to environmental protection and actively organize and participate in environmental protection public welfare activities such as tree planting and beach cleaning of the joint company, which can be regarded as a model of green development.

Based on the successful cooperation over the past many years, I have grown from my work experience in CNPC, got married, started a family, and lived a happy life.

I hope that we can continue to work hand in hand to find a new road of cooperation, hope and win-win together, and contribute to the China-Mozambique community with a shared future in the new era.
