TWO Christ Ministries High School employees today appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court on allegations of stealing US$25 000 that was paid as debts to the school.

Lazarus Nhau Makoni (71), who doubled as a cashier and clerk and Eustace Makoni (55), who was employed as a bursar, were not asked to plead to the charges when they appeared before magistrate Mr Dennis Mangosi charged with fraud.

Mr Anesu Chirenje, appearing for the State, alleged that between January and July this year Makoni, on behalf of the school, collected US$25 000 from people who owed it.

He then allegedly handed over the money to the cashier.

On July 23, Christ Ministries’ headmaster requested for a reconciliation of the cash transactions and discovered that there was no money in the cash box and took the matter to the police.
