The Environmental Management Agency (EMA) has completed constructing a biogas digester in Lower Gweru to minimise deforestation.

EMA Midlands environmental planning officer Ms Annastencia Mangisi said on Tuesday that villagers had started benefiting from the project.

“The first biogas digester has already been completed in Lower Gweru Ward One and is set to be commissioned at the end of this month,” said Ms Mangisi.

She said they were also engaging the youth within Lower Gweru on the benefits of the biogas digester and teach how to construct one as a way of creating employment.

Ms Mangisi said EMA planned to construct biogas digesters in all rural areas around Midlands, and they were set to embark on the same programme in other communities.
