Dzvene wins Mbare  body-building contest He won the tournament last year when it made a grand return from a 14-year hiatus defeating nine other athletes who had taken to the stage.

EXSEVIOR Dzvene was crowned the 2023 Mbare Body-building and Fitness Championships senior men’s body-building champion at Stodart Hall on Saturday. 

The Family Fitness Gym athlete was ahead of Prince Moyo of Rayton Gym and Clinton Muchemeni from his stable, Family Fitness Gym. Family Fitness Gym dominated the senior men’s category and Dzvene was excited to come out tops from such a star-studded line-up. 

“I am very happy with the win, and this will give me confidence going into the future. I have always been looking forward to this breakthrough and I am very happy that it finally came. 

“I have been competing for some time and this district show will enable me to go and work for up-coming national tournaments. I am very grateful to my coaches and all the club mates whom I competed against.

“It was difficult as we know each other very much and we usually get the same tips from our coaches at the gym. You could see that Family Fitness Gym had the highest number of entries and they did very well,” said Dzvene. 

The Family Fitness Gym trio of Philip Machapo, Denzel Ngwerume and Lewis Nendere also made the top six. 

Men’s fitness category was won by Malcom Dzuke, who got the better of Tinopuwanashe Shamu of Act Dynamic Gym in Chitungwiza. 

Haare Gonzo of Metro Fitness Gym won the Men’s Physique, beating Malcom Dzuke to second place while the junior men body-building under-21 was won by Prince Moyo of Rayton Gym. The Mbare Body-building and Fitness contest returned to Stoddard Hall after a ten-year hiatus with several athletes taking part. 

Mbare Body-building and Fitness contest had several categories the chairman Knowledge Gunda said they are happy to have resuscitated the contest after a long absence.
