DYNAMOS were worthy winners over Meikles at Gwanzura Stadium yesterday and maintained their challenge for the Rhobrew League title.

Dynamos quickly took control and it was no surprise when Oliver Kateya scored with a good header in the 38th minute.

Two lapses by Meikles’ goalkeeper Godwin Janeiro in the second half, led to two more goals for Dynamos.

In the 54th minute, he came too far off his line and failed to cut out a cross. The ball fell at the feet of Dhidhi Ncube who scored easily.

It was almost a repeat in the 68th minute when Ncube scored again.

Meikles had reduced the arrears in the 63rd minute when Freddie Mukusha accepted Martin Gede’s cross from the right and sent a hard shot past John Revayi.

Sables . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (0) 0
Arcadia United . . . . . . . . . . . . (1) 2

Meanwhile, there were few highlights in this Rhobrew league match played at Rufaro Stadium yesterday.

Nazzareth Cardosa opened the scoring in the 38th minute when he took advantage of a hesitant Sables’ defence and darted in to take an opportunist goal.

Sables had a great chance to score when Steward Gilbert was forced to make a brilliant double save from Danny Muyambo

Arcadia were unlucky not to increase their lead on at least three occasions when shots were scrambled off the line

In the 78th minute Bunty Leming chased a long clearance with Sables back Jimmy Machaka, who headed past his own goalkeeper.

Chikwanha Rangers  . . . . . . . (0)
Chibuku . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (3) 5

Chibuku maintained their position at the head of the table with an easy win over Rangers at the Arcadia ground.

Chibuku’s first two goals came from corner kicks on the right, which Charlie Gwazo and Bernard Dzingayi turned in.

Steven Chuma got the third goal with a good shot on the run from outside the box.

Chuma got the fourth with an accurate header. Chikwanha managed to pull off a goal when they beat Chibuku’s five-man wall with a free kick.

But Chibuku pressed hard and when Charlie Gwazo was brought down for a penalty Billy Sahrman scored

LESSONS FOR TODAY
Soccer can impact social change and development especially when taken to professional levels.

Established in 1963, Dynamos has been in the local league and has been the breeding base for a lot of great players nationally and internationally. While most of the pioneer teams have collapsed, many new soccer teams have also been formed.

Soccer is a game of skill and one that has many benefits, especially for those who play the game.

Soccer has also developed to become business, which has attracted a lot of sponsors and supporters. Livelihoods have been sustained by the proceeds of the beautiful game.

Soccer sponsorship provides a great means of broadening competitive edge by improving a company’s image, prestige and credibility. In recent years, corporate sponsorship has become the fastest growing type of marketing in professional soccer.
