MONTEVIDEO. — Claudio Bravo’s wife has called into question the commitment of some Chile players after they failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup soccer finals. A 3-0 loss to Brazil on Tuesday night killed Chile’s chances of making it to Russia, despite starting the game in an automatic qualification spot. Chile were third heading into the game, but the heavy defeat and a late Peru equaliser against Colombia pushed them down to sixth. It means Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez will miss out on competing in the World Cup and Bravo’s wife held nothing back when she commented on the result.

Bravo’s wife Carla Pardo took to Instagram to shame some of his team-mates for their behaviour during the campaign. She alluded to players prioritising partying over their World Cup hopes, and even claimed that some were missing training due to hangovers.

“Thank you, Captain America, for all that you have experienced,” said Bravo’s wife. It was really beautiful. But when they put on the shirt it has to be with professionalism. I know that most of them busted their asses, while others left parties and even didn’t train from the drunkenness they had. If the cap fits, put it on and stop crying. Because now it is a whole country that is crying. Here we wait for you with open arms my captain.”

Bravo was asked about his wife’s comments after their defeat, but refused to comment.He told La Tecera: “Those things are spoken about internally.” A brace for Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus did the damage against Chile with Paulinho grabbing the opener. — AFP.
