AFTER watching his youthful side edge giants CAPS United in the semi-finals of the Commander ZNA Charities Soccer Shield at the weekend, Dynamos coach Lloyd Mutasa is convinced the future is bright for the Glamour Boys.

The DeMbare rookies performed beyond expectations when they were given the opportunity at the big stage after the senior players went on strike last week, demanding their dues dating back from last season.

And now a dream final is on the cards against Highlanders, who came from a goal behind to beat Chicken Inn 2-1 yesterday when they played the remaining 35 minutes of the game abandoned on Sunday due to thunderstorms in Bulawayo.

“I think this is going to be an interesting match because Bosso have taken a new path under their new coach Madinda Ndlovu, who is also been introducing a number of juniors of late,” said Mutasa.

“The same is happening here, but the thing is one team has to win when we meet because this is a cup final.
“We all have the opportunity to go back and do our preparations.

“Playing another big team in the pre-season will help strengthen our preparations.
“So we are looking forward to this final.”

The former midfielder, who has been having some sleepless nights in the past few days after players went on industrial action, was full of praise for his rookies for their performance.

Midfielder Kudzi Dhemere’s well struck effort in the 59th minute brought relief to the Glamour Boys in the match against the Green Machine.

“It obviously indicates that there is a good future ahead of us.
“It boosts the confidence of the youngsters, it enhances competition and it also spurs our performances as a team.

“I am happy for the young boys because if you can do well against one of the giants of domestic football, then it strengthens self-belief.

“We will get a better picture tomorrow (today) when we have a meeting of those who participated and those who didn’t.
“But among those who didn’t play on Sunday, there are some who played in the practice games against Buffaloes and Mushowani last week.

“If only we can remain intact, we will be very competitive,” said Mutasa.
The DeMbare leadership have been running around to restore normalcy to their camp after a week of turmoil.

The final of the tournament has been tentatively set for the National Sports Stadium this Sunday.
Army spokesperson Alphios Makotore said they were looking forward to a big match.

Highlanders, who are also on a revolution led by new coach Madinda Ndlovu, booked their place after Adrian Silla and Peter Muduhwa found the target yesterday to cancel out a fourth-minute goal scored by Chicken Inn’s Clemence Matawu.

Matawu had put the Gamecocks ahead on Sunday before the match was abandoned due to bad weather.
“The final will be played in Harare. We have set the National Sports Stadium as the possible venue because we are not sure yet with Rufaro because of its turf, especially with the wet weather we are experiencing at this time of the year.
“It looks like this is going to be an exciting final.

“But we must always remember that this is for a charity cause and so we are pleading with all Zimbabweans to come in their droves to witness this potentially explosive final.

“On our part as organisers, the more the people come, the more money we are able to raise for charity,” said Makotore.
