Miss Planet Zimbabwe 2024 finalist model, Yvonne Ruvarashe, continues to shine as she tackles and implements 17 SDG’s.
The pageant offers a diverse and inclusive platform for young women channelling them towards taking up leadership roles as aligned with the United Nations (Sustainable Development Goals) SDG’s.
In an interview, the 23- year-old Ruvarashe said modelling is her passion and wants to walk the talk on global stage.
“I started off modelling in primary school participating at various competitions,” she said.
“That itself boosted my confidence. Then with seeing how the girl child is left out when it comes to SDGs goals, I was driven by the deep desire to make a difference in society while supporting the girl child.”
As a finalist, Ruvarashe has started on working towards her selected task which is ‘Gender Equality’ in response to number five of the 17 SDG’s.
“I aim to create a better and sustainable future not only for our own generation but for the generation to be. It might seem impossible but with determination passion and commitment, it will happen.”
“If gender equality is to be a successful goal, the world can change for good as both genders will be able to make decisions and exercise control, infusing interests and priorities of both, thereby recognising diversity and appreciating the difference between women and men,” she explained.
With so many titles to her throne Ruvarashe, has been previously crowned Miss Personality for Alhood before becoming Miss Chitungwiza and at one time selected as Sunday Mail model of the week.
The inaugural Miss Ubuntu Zimbabwe modelling pageant set for August will mark the birth of her new journey as she hosts her first model pageant.
“I am a firm believer in humanity and this pageant is a beacon of light and ray of hope to all those who believe humanity does not exist.” Ruvarashe vows to continue impacting and changing lives through various projects as she supports less privileged children doing charity work. Her aim is also to support the boy child realising the need to bridge the gap as the boy child has been long neglected in society.
“There is not much focus on the boy child and as such I am hoping to change the trajectory and tell a different story. Giving boys the recognition they deserve also.”
“Gender equity is a movement I aim to promote as I set sail. There should not be any discrimination among us for we all are equal,” she said.
The model has assumed leadership roles, coaching in various pageants, among them the 5th Annual Miss Empire 263 Model Pageant in December 2023 and her return in February 2024 for the 5th Annual Empire 263 Valentine.
