SOUTH Africa-based Ndumiso Dlodlo successfully defended his Mr Zimbabwe bodybuilding title at Sharon School in Harare at the weekend.

Dlodlo was in his own class as he beat several other contestants in the main category to emerge the overall winner.

The Bulawayo-born bodybuilder said he is happy to have successfully defended his title and is looking forward to winning it for at least the next three years.

“I am very happy to have defended my title. I had strong challenges from the guys, but I managed to win. It’s not easy, but I am happy for my supporters and trainers . . . I dedicate this title to them.

“We were dieting so much and trained hard; and coming back to Zimbabwe to be in the competition like this keeps us going.

“I knew deep down in my heart that I was going to do it and if I was to lose I was going to come back to reclaim my title,” said Dlodlo.

Dlodlo of the “Team Dog” made history last year by winning the overall accolade from a lower category, remains one to beat after he also captured the Mr ZITF recently.

Meanwhile, former Ms Zimbabwe, Regina Jonga, who is now contesting under the South African flag, continued with her dominance as she captured the Nabba nationals’ ladies extreme.

The Mbare-born athlete was placed first overall and qualified to compete in California in the United States in November this year. “California here I come, I can’t wait. Thank you Jesus for the win you lifted me to higher levels. A very big thanks to my best ever coach Paul Goredema, you are the best brother, with you I’m going far, thank you for everything you are doing for me. Not forgetting to thank each and everyone who is supporting me in this journey, my friends, my fans and my family. I appreciate your support guys thank you and stay blessed,’’ Jonga said.
