Fashion is continually seen as an indispensable piece of our life.

It has been following from the bygone era, as time travelled, fashion designs are also changing.

A long time ago fashion was seen as the preserve of rich people who party everyday.

Nonetheless as time and tastes of people have changed the meaning of designing perspective also changed. 

Art and fashion are synonymous and have been showcased many times in museums, exhibitions and on modelling runways.

Twenty-one-year old Kudakwashe Killan Nherera is a young passionate fashion designer who owns a clothing line called killan.zw_7 digitsway.

Kudakwashe resides in the suburbs of Highfield, Harare.

He started the clothing line in 2018 after being inspired by international brands such as Nike.

“It was quite difficult and challenging to push the brand at first as I was trying to find ways to be popular in fashion circles,” said Nherera.

From they year 2020 up to date the brand focuses on hip-hop street wear and its lines includes t shirts, crop tops, bottoms, hoodies, slides, bucket hats among others.

“Art does not just appear in a museum or on slab of a canvas. Art is everywhere, even in the clothes we make.

Fashion itself is an art, it’s a form of creative expression carried out by a designer and put on blank canvassed bodies”, he added.

Killan.zw_7 digitsway has dressed a number of Zimbabwean celebrities and models, musicians, actors and is looking forward to working with bigger names both locally and regionally.

Kudakwashe further highlighted that being loyal to a fashion brand is socially acceptable and is a way to distinguish one’s self from others and satisfy the individual need for social adaptation and imitation.

Therefore fashion is unique, self fulfilling and a key aspect of identity.

Similarly to art, the aims of a person’s choices in fashion are not necessarily to be linked by everyone, but are instead an expression of personal taste.
