VETERAN defender, Gift Bello, has challenged FC Platinum to win the league championship this season.

Bello is one of the leaders at FC Platinum and has already tasted what it means to be champions during his spell at Dynamos.

“My desire is to win the league with FC Platinum.

“We are going to try our best and work hard as a team this season. We need to do our best this year,” said Bello.

“We finished on third position last year and this season I pray to God that He blesses us so that we lift all the trophies at stake.

“We learnt a lot last season when we finished third and this season it’s going to be different.

“We are even urging our fans to rally behind us from day one until the last day of the season.

“We are going to try our best.”

“I am going to retire at FC Platinum and I am no longer interested in making a move to any other club.”

The defender turns 32 on May 23 this year.

Last year Bello scored twice with headers.

“Fans should expect more goals this season and I giving myself a target of five goals,” he said.

He is enjoying a new lease of life under coach Norman Mapeza.

FC Platinum will get their season rolling on March 6 when they host How Mine in the ZNA Charities quarter-final tie.

This season, coach Norman Mapeza opted to have his team train here than go for a training camp in Kariba.

Mapeza’s squad has been boosted by the arrival of midfielder Hillary Bakacheza from Triangle, Rodwell Chinyengetere from Hwange, Ishmael Wadi, Last Sithole, Wallace Magalani and Barnabas Musunje from Bulawayo Chiefs.
