DDF repairs roads ahead of grain delivery

The District Development Fund (DDF) Mashonaland East Province has embarked on rehabilitation of all roads that link Grain Marketing Board (GMB) depots in anticipation of the forthcoming harvesting season.

Regardless of a dry spell which prevailed across the Mashonaland East Province lately, most farmers are optimistic of a bumper harvest and will need a good road network for easier and quick transportation of their yields to GMB depots.

DDF Mashonaland East Provincial engineer Engineer Dennis Dzvene said work was in progress on most of the roads across the province.

“We have a target of 3 724 kilometres in the whole province and so far we have covered more than 300km. We have started with roads leading to GMB in anticipation of deliveries from farmers.

“We want transporters and farmers to easily transport their produce. This will reduce breakdowns and transportation costs,” Engineer Dzvene said.
