The summit is a prestigious biennial business conference and exhibition designed specifically to promote and facilitate international trade between the Americas, Asia, Caribbea, Europe and UAE with Africa; to facilitate foreign direct investment in Africa and to provide a platform for businesses to expand into new markets.

He went on further to explain that the event will cover 16 economic sectors namely manufacturing, agribusiness, power, land development and construction, transportation, information technology, health, fin-tech, tourism, telecoms and natural resources sectors. Expected delegates to attend the summit are government delegations, high-profile African business leaders, project developers and international investors.

Mr Taruberekera highlighted that this summit has come at the right time when the Zimbabwean Government led by His Excellency Cde ED Mnangagwa is advocating for the need to attract foreign investors to come to Zimbabwe.

It is the new dispensation’s mantra that Zimbabwe is open for business.

Mr Taruberekera said that his organisation will take this opportunity to market the various business sectors in Zimbabwe including land development and housing construction, tourism, agriculture, mining etc to more than 1 370 organisations who will be attending the summit.

He explained:

“It is a well-known fact by all countries in the world that Zimbabwe is rich in minerals and in terms of agriculture we boast of rich fertile soils and livestock production which have enabled Zimbabwe to be the leading country in terms of exporting quality beef.

“We are based in Kadoma and you are aware that Kadoma is the city of gold and as such we will also take this opportunity to attract investors to come and invest in the mining of gold in Kadoma.

“We are hopeful that we will market opportunities in Zimbabwe and be able to attract foreigners who will eventually come and invest in our beloved country. We will also be preaching about the idea of public-private partnership opportunities available in Zimbabwe.”

He added that as an organisation they are aware that public-private partnerships are very crucial in economic recovery and development of the country as they are in public-private partnerships with the Government in two of their housing developmental projects.

These projects are going on well and he gave credit to the public-private partnership they have with the Government. He went further to explain that Craft Properties (Pvt) Ltd will also market the new business environment created by the new dispensation in the country, which is conducive for investors to come and do business.

Craft Properties (Pvt) Ltd is hopeful that as an organisation they will be able to find able investors who can partner the organisation in the area of land development and provision of affordable and decent houses to Zimbabweans.

Mr Taruberekera said Craft Properties (Pvt) Ltd has taken heed of the Government’s call to market Zimbabwe to the international community and recently the organisation was invited for a meeting in Pretoria, South Africa by Xodus Holdings Limited, a South African company.

The meeting was held on the 8th of March 2018 in South Africa where it was indicatively agreed that Xodus Holdings Limited will partner with Craft Properties (Pvt) Ltd in the construction of houses in Zimbabwe.

The deliberations are at an advanced stage and indications are that the pioneer project of this partnership will be in Kadoma where it is earmarked to construct 1 000 houses at Holyland High Density Suburb in Kadoma.

These, in a small way, are some of the efforts being done by Craft Properties (Pvt) Ltd in its effort to help the Government in alleviating the housing shortages in the country.

Mr Taruberekera also highlighted that quite a number of organisations abroad have expressed interest in meeting the Craft Properties team but some of the potential meetings abroad have not been fulfilled due to financial constraints.
