She said contingency plans have been made to make sure the vaccines reach all the target areas on time. She added that back-up power supplies were already in place in case there are power cuts.

“We have a team on standby to fix all the emergencies relating to power cuts and functionality of the cold rooms,” said Dr Chikodzore
The vaccines will be used on the province’s frontline staff that include health workers and border personel.

Matabeleland South has five border posts although only two including Beitbridge and Plumtree are open to commercial and selected traffic under the current lockdown related protocols.
The other ports of entry are Maitengwe, Mpoengs and Mlambaphele all bordering with Botswana.
