City Parking is clearing clogged drainage systems in Harare’s Central Business District (CBD) in anticipation of the rainy season as part of its corporate social initiatives.

The company is also targeting deep cleaning of streets and spots known for bad odours and dumpsites followed by disinfection of the streets.

City Parking public relations manager Mr Francis Mandaza said the exercise is part of the company’s monthly revenue remittances to the City of Harare and also a way of giving back to the community.

“As part of our corporate social initiatives, we have embarked on an exercise to clear clogged CBD drainage systems before the rains come,” he said.

“The objective is to ensure the streets are clean and our stakeholders enjoy fresh air when they are in the CBD. Our message to the public is clear, do not litter in the city as this will haunt everyone when our city drainage is clogged and we experience flooded roads. Let us keep the city clean.”

Recently, City Parking embarked on a road marking and pothole patching exercise in the CBD as part of their efforts to spruce up road infrastructure and improve parking space.
