Government has commended the Zimbabwe Amalgamated Council of Churches for donating thousands of litres of bottled water to contain the cholera outbreak in Harare.

The donation was handed over to Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Deputy Minister Cde Jennifer Mhlanga in Harare yesterday.

Deputy Minister Mhlanga applauded ZACC for the donation.

“We are so delighted to see the indigenous churches coming together to mobilise important resources for the cholera and typhoid victims. It is a very humbling experience for me to come here and receive the donation, this gesture towards cholera victims in Harare,” she said.

“No event is too small neither is there any event that is large, all events are important and hence all citizens of this country are important and when you gather as a small gathering we will come to listen to you. We will come collect your messages because all messages are important to this Government, the Government of His Excellency President ED Mnangagwa,” Deputy Minister Mhlanga said.

ZACC patron Cde Jimayi Muduvuri pledged to support Government efforts at containing the disease.

“We saw it fit to donate this bottled water since there was a serious outbreak of cholera in and around Harare. As churches we realised that unclean water causes cholera and that is why we decided to hand it over to the ministry to assist the affect areas,” he  said.

“As the church we are very proud of you Your Excellency the President. This Cabinet shows that you respect the will and the wishes of the people of Zimbabwe.

“You have come up with a young and vibrant team and this is a serious demonstration that you are not doing this for the benefit of zanu-pf, but for the generality of Zimbabweans.”
