Chiwunga backs teammates Rhinos are currently third from bottom with 35 points from 33 games and if they can get to 38 points, survival might be secured if Yadah (37 points) and ZPC Kariba (38 points) lose their final matches. Yadah host Dynamos while ZPC Kariba visit relegated army side Cranborne Bullets, who are a sister club to Black Rhinos.

BLACK Rhinos veteran forward, Lot Chiwunga is confident that his teammates will successfully complete a miracle escape when they face Simba Bhora in the final round of Castle Lager Premier Soccer League action this weekend.

Simba Bhora have already survived in their debut season while Rhinos will need victory to complete a miraculous escape.

Rhinos are currently third from bottom with 35 points from 33 games and if they can get to 38 points, survival might be secured if Yadah (37 points) and ZPC Kariba (38 points) lose their final matches. Yadah host Dynamos while ZPC Kariba visit relegated army side Cranborne Bullets, who are a sister club to Black Rhinos.

It is remarkable that Chiwunga returned to top-flight football after nearly four years without kicking a ball after suffering a career threatening injury.

His doctor even told him that his career was over.

Chiwunga returned to football earlier this year playing for a social league side, Diaspora FC owned by former Warriors defender David Kutyauripo in the Harare Super League.

Chauya Chipembere knocked on his door after struggling to get someone who could find the net during the mid-season break.

And, it was always unfair to expect Chiwunga to regain the form he showed before the cruel incident. Yet he was once one of the most ruthless hitman in the Castle Lager Premiership. Chiwunga accepted the challenge like a real soldier and he has been their main man.

The former Warriors man has busted the net seven times and he is just five goals behind the league’s joint leading goal scorers, Takunda Benhura of Ngezi Platinum Stars and Bulawayo Chiefs’ Obriel Chirinda.

One can only imagine what could have been the situation for the army side had Chiwunga played full season. This is one of the greatest comeback in the domestic Premiership.
