Tawanda Mangoma in Chiredzi
Chiredzi Rural District Council has honoured four outstanding Zanu-PF councillors by awarding them the high-ranking title of Alderman. Addressing a full council meeting recently, Chiredzi RDC chairman Councillor Edward Matsilele said, the local authority was impressed by the dedication and discipline exhibited by councillors Munyengeri Murawu, Mukachana Chauke, Rabson Mashulani and Stephen Dzivathe over the past 20 years.

“I would like to congratulate them for achieving this rare feat for being in council for four conservative terms,” he said. Cllr Matsilele challenged the four to continue the execution of their duties professionally.

“Now that you have been honoured, you should continue to observe the laws of the country, lest we are found wanting,” he said. “We have to respect the Code of Ethics that gives integrity and credibility to the conduct of councillors.”

Council also issued a $500 token of appreciation to each of the four councillors for their outstanding work. Alderman Mashulani said their uplifting would not stop them from continuously serving the people. He said the people from their respective wards were the owners of the awards.

“Team work between the councillors and the communities are the main pillars for development,” said Alderman Mashulani. “You cannot do this on your own, but team work, unity and openness will help you always. The people who voted for us for these 20 years are the owners of these awards. They are the Aldermen, and we thank them for that.”
