Touring the almost-complete building on Wednesday, acting Chief Justice Elizabeth Gwaunza confirmed the impending grand opening.

“A big occasion will come and from what is being said, it won’t be long in coming where there will be a grand opening of this beautiful building,” she said.

“We are only two weeks away from its completion. It has come a long way and the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) will be proud of its fantastic architecture, which is modern.”

Acting Chief Justice Gwaunza said the architectural design of the court will inspire confidence in those who will use it, including prisoners, litigants, lawyers and workers.

JSC secretary, Mr Walter Chikwana, said the new court building will have an integrated electronic case management system that seeks to improve justice delivery in the country.

“Within the coming 30 days, we will be opening this court,” he said.

Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Mary Mliswa-Chikoka applauded the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development for releasing funds towards the project.

A few touch-ups on electrical works, telephoning and data wiring and fitting of cupboards were to be met in the one percent remaining for the successful completion of the building.
