CHIEF Shumba of the “ED Pfee” hit song is back with a new song titled “Mushana paJecha.” Chief Shumba, born Admire Sibanda, co-wrote the song with prominent young farmer from the Midlands Province Cde John Muchenje, a beneficiary of the successful Land Reform Programme and Command Agriculture Programme.

Cde Shumba said the song is aimed at bringing awareness to youths and those who are bent on causing mayhem and disorder in the country that each and every Zimbabwean has a role to play in socio-economic emancipation of the country and the need to work together and not throw spanners in each other’s work.

He said he was saddened two weeks ago when Winky D decided to return to dancehall and drop the track “Kasong Kejecha”.

Due to its political undertones, the song has been quickly embraced by those in the opposition.

“It is sad we have an opposition and artistes like Winky D who are saying they will pour sand on national programmes spearheaded by the New Dispensation. When the Zanu-PF Government embarks on programmes, they don’t only benefit its supporters but every Zimbabwean and therefore there is need for all Zimbabweans to work together as one in unity instead of thinking of pouring sand on others,” said Chief Shumba.

He said the sand which they want to use to cause mayhem and despondence is very important for any infrastructure and animals. For instance crocodiles use it as hatcheries for their eggs so we can’t allow sand to be used for destructive purposes.

“Sand is used together with other construction materials like asphalt and concrete. It is also used as a decorative material in landscaping. Specific types of sand are used in the manufacture of glass and as a molding material for metal casting. Other sand is used as an abrasive in sandblasting and to make sandpaper. It is also a hatchery for crocodiles and,” said Chief Shumba.

Cde Muchenje said they composed the song to correct the mindset of the youth so that they are not swayed by the masses of destruction in thinking that “kudira jecha” is the way to solve our problems.

“As youth we are the future leaders of this country so I wanted to educate the youth not to be used by people who are ignorant about economic development.

“We use sand to construct not destroy,” he said.

Cde Muchenje added, “Those guys in opposition are and want to arm twist the Zanu PF Government to enter into the Government of National Unity (GNU) for their own selfish benefits and not for the youths they use in their demonstrations. They called for sanctions to fix the country which shows that they don’t care about us. We wanted to counter Winky D and elements among that are against progress.”
