Following her duet with Jah Prayzah on his latest album “Kumbumura Mhute”, Motswana sensation Magdeline Lesolebe, who is popularly known as Charma Gal, seems to have fallen in love with Zimbabwe.
The energetic musician has done a Shona track titled “Mari Muroyi” that features on her nine-track album titled “Chomi Yami” that is being marketed and distributed by a local recording stable Diamond Studios.

The song in which the musician sings fluently in our local language explores the evils of money that usually lead to divisions in the society.

She urges people in Africa to remain united despite facing difficulties and temptations because of money.

Speaking from her Botswana base yesterday, Charma Gal said she decided to have a Shona track on her album to show her affection for Zimbabweans.

“Zimbabwe is a good country and that explains why I decided to do a song in Shona to show how I love the people in the country,” she said.

She hailed Zimbabwean artistes for being professional and talented.

“When I came for Jah Prayzah’s album launch, I discovered that the country has got talent and it is encouraging as it opens doors for us to work with them,” said Charma.

She also encouraged artistes to remain united in entertaining and educating people.

“We should not act like politicians. In fact, politicians appear to fight in public yet they work together in the background and fool the people into fighting.
“As musicians, if we are to fight, let us have battles on stage through our music.”

The musician said she was happy to be working with a local studio to market and distribute her music in Zimbabwe.

“I am so happy and grateful to Diamond Studios for choosing me, considering that there are many talented people in my nation. I believe this deal will take my music to greater heights both in Zimbabwe and Botswana,” she said.

Diamond Studios boss Steady Munyanyi hailed the musician for her creativity and appreciation of our local artistes.

“It is good to work with artistes from other countries. It is also good to note that more and more of our artistes are being appreciated in foreign lands. It gives us hope for a bright future for our music industry,” he said.

He congratulated the musician for successfully recording her song in our mother language.

Charma Gal collaborated with Jah Prayzah, on the track “Dalie Wami”.

Before that, she had performed in the country a couple of years ago under the group Culture Spears of “Kulenyane” fame.

Charma Gal has five albums under her name (“Eke Ntolo” volumes 1-5) and she said she would tour Zimbabwe in the near future.
