All is set for the first edition of Changamire Hip-hop Awards, which is scheduled to take place this Saturday at Club 1+1, at Longcheng Plaza.

Last year, they hosted the 12-month festival and this year they are awarding the best from the 12 shows.

The event is running under the theme “ZimHiphop to the People” with top musicians and producers vying for awards in 10 categories.

The show which will be hosted by Zimboy and MC Chita has a line-up of entertainers who include T-Gonz, Probeats, Tricky J, Schingy, Briss Mbada, Guluva Se7en, BlacPearl, Noble Styles and Bry Three Sixty among others.

Guest performers include non hip-hop musicians such as Trevor Dongo, Ngoni Kambarami and Tiara Baluti.

In an interview show organiser and founder member Tafadzwa Muchechetere affectionately known as ‘‘Zimboy’’, said everything is now in place and they are ready for action.

“Last year I did 12 shows in four major cities such as Harare, Mutare, Gweru and Bualwayo- giving an opportunity to the hip-hop musicians. The show is sponsored by the Zim Hiphop awards where I act as the marketing director. We have released the nominees and so far so good.

‘‘The stage is set with rehearsals already in progress as some artistes are polishing up their acts. The accolades are in place and certificates are done. We are happy so far with the response from the corporate world and how they are appreciating the genre,” he said.

Zimboy said the guest of honour is Dzikamayi Chibaya — president for Support Local Music movement while special guest is Aldrin ‘‘Beefy’’ from Zimhiphop.

“The event will have a red carpet moment where artistes will have a chance for photoshoots and mingle with their fans,” he said.

He said apart from the musicians who will scoop the awards, there are other 14 people who will be honoured.
