MIDFIELD enforcer Devon Chafa has joined the bandwagon across the Zambezi after penning a two-year contract with ambitious Zambian side Buildcon yesterday. The former Dynamos and CAPS United strongman, who has been linked to the two giants in recent weeks, ended speculation surrounding his future after agreeing a deal with the ambitious Ndola-based side.

Local deal-maker George Deda, who has been negotiating on behalf of Buildcon, confirmed Chafa and his team, led by his manager Gibson Mahachi, were satisfied by Buildcon’s offers.
There is also an option to extend the deal by another year if both parties are happy.

“We learnt of Chafa’s availability through his manager Gibson Mahachi who has worked with him for many years,’’ said Deda.
“As the chief negotiator of Buildcon here in Zimbabwe I talked to my superiors in Ndola and they were impressed by what they saw in Devon. I would want to thank Mahachi who has been very cooperative in the negotiations.
“I can say the deal is done and dusted. Devon has agreed and his agent has also agreed to the move.

“Buildcon are also happy, any team will be happy to have a player of Devon’s calibre in their squad,” said Deda.
Chafa will become the fourth Zimbabwean player to join the Zambian moneybags in the last month after Tatenda Mukuruva, Patson Jaure and Nqobizitha Masuku.

Buildcon are currently in Zimbabwe in preparation for their Super League which starts on March 3.
Chafa has since hooked up with the squad on their training camp and was an unused substitute in their practice match against Ngezi Platinum at Baobab yesterday.
The Zambian moneybags, who have been on a shopping spree in the last two years, are also tracking CAPS United forward John Zhuwawu, who is back in the country after his intended move during the January window collapsed.

Zhuwawu, who played for Makepekepe in the ZNA Charities semi-final clash against Dynamos yesterday, has been shortlisted for next season if things go according to plan. Buildcon played a goalless draw against Ngezi Platinum yesterday and they still have five more games before they return to Zambia.

They are scheduled to play Black Rhinos in Harare tomorrow, Premiership newboys Herentals on Thursday and Harare City this coming Saturday. The following week they play CAPS United and then round off their tour with a match against ZPC Kariba.
