Revolutionary musician Dickson “Cde Chinx” Chingaira has scoffed at rumours about his death that have been circulating since Tuesday evening.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment yesterday, Cde Chinx said he heard the rumour and was disappointed that some people wish him dead.

“I am very much alive. I heard the rumour and I was surprised,” said Cde Chinx.

“I am currently not feeling well. Maybe someone thought I had died because of my health.

“You have to know that people say a lot of things. At one time there were rumours that my house was pulled down by police officers while I was on top of it and these are just lies.”

His death rumours circulated on social media networks like Facebook and WhatsApp.

Cde Chinx said the causes of his ill health are not known as doctors have not diagnosed the disease yet.

“Doctors at once thought I had arthritis, TB and gout but after some tests I was found to be as clean as a baby but I am in so much pain,” he said.

Cde Chinx has won hearts of many Zimbabweans with his music and his love for the country.

Last year he was honoured by Zimbabwe Music Awards for his special contribution to the music industry.

He was given a house, which is in the final construction stages.

He has been an outstanding figure in revolutionary music before and after independence and continues to inspire young patriotic musicians.

Cde Chinx joins the list of other local musicians that have previously been rumoured dead that includes Leonard Zhakata, Oliver Mtukudzi, Alick Macheso, Jah Prayzah and Progress Chipfumo.
