The $50 000 package by CBZ Holdings to the provincial and national winners is one of the biggest prize monies in schools co-curricular activities.

National coordinator for the schools debate, Isheanesu Sibanda, said in a statement that the debate helps to mould future leaders while bringing vibrancy to the education sector.

“All is set for the CBZ Schools Debate Championship this Saturday at Rainbow Hotel in Bulawayo where top primary schools from the country’s 10 provinces will battle for honour at the national finals,” he said.

“Over $50 000 sponsorship package is up for grabs courtesy of the chief sponsors financial services group CBZ Holdings and the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Paul Mavima will hand over the prize money as the guest of honour at the event.”

He said the debate is aimed at developing critical thinking, reading and research as well as active listening amongst the debaters providing experiences that will raise cognitive and presentation skills to our primary pupils.

More than 1 000 schools drawn from the country’s 10 provinces have registered to participate in the debate.
