MARC CAYEUX will miss this week’s Mopani Redpath Zambia Open, which tees off tomorrow at the Nkana Golf Club in Kitwe, Zambia. The event comes just a few days after the Old Mutual Zimbabwe Open won by South African Bryce Easton at 16-under-par at Royal Harare on Sunday. Cayeux said he needs a rest and be with his family.

“I would have loved to be in Zambia but it is the time my family needs me most. I will be moving house so I will help my wife,’’ he said.

“The season is just beginning so I will participate in the other tournaments coming up.’’
The absence of Cayeux, who has a direct entrance for the tournament, will now see only nine locals competing in the tournament which has R2 million purse. Mark Williams will be expected to continue with his fine form.

Ryan Cairns left the country for the tournament yesterday.
Joining Williams and Cairns will be Mandhu siblings Mohammed and Kayyam, Trainos Muradzikwa, Tongo Charamba and Ben Follet Smith.

Meanwhile, on the Asian Tour, Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent was the best of the Sunshine Tour players with his share of fourth place in the Panasonic Open Golf Championship in Japan.
The top professional was in a five-way tie after a 10-under overall score having carded 73, 67, 68 and 66.
