Cabinet was yesterday briefed on the progress of various infrastructure projects being implemented by four ministries.

Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa yesterday told a post-Cabinet briefing that the reports were presented on the seventh 100 Day Cycle of the Second Republic from the Ministries of Health and Child Care; Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs; Energy and Power Development and Local Government and Public Works.

The Vice President and Minister of Health and Child Care Dr Constantino Chiwenga advised that solar power had been installed at 129 of the targeted 150 primary care clinics during the current cycle.

Forty of the targeted, 100 boreholes were drilled while construction of a dedicated water line to Bindura Hospital was now 91 percent complete, with the refurbishment of Chegutu District Hospital 20 percent complete.

The Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Ziyambi Ziyambi told Cabinet that the construction of Chinhoyi Magistrates Court and Lupane Magistrates Court were on schedule.

The Chikurubi Training School Staff Housing Project which seeks to have 40 blocks of houses constructed is 75 percent complete.

“Under the horticulture overhead irrigation project, Anju Prison Farm, in Matabeleland North, planted five hectares of sugar bean and 1,2 hectares of cabbages which are ready and are now being harvested,” Minister Mutsvangwa said.

The Minister of Energy and Power and Development, Zhemu Soda said the construction of Units 7 and 8 at the Hwange Power Station was at 66,73 percent against a target of 91,84 percent while the Zimbabwe Zhongxin Electric Project was 98 percent complete.

The power plant design and construction is 100 percent complete, while the transmission line is at 90 percent with 1,3km of the line section remaining for completion by end of June 2021.

“On the electrification of Kanyemba, the nation is advised that a total of 17,23 km of a 33kv High Voltage line has been completed. An additional survey and way-leave clearance for 7,2km of the High Voltage line was done,” Minister Mutsvangwa said.

The Minister of Local Government and Public Works, July Moyo told Cabinet that the glazing, flooring and painting of the classroom block at Vira Secondary School in Guruve, Mashonaland Central was completed.
