International buyers have started arriving ahead of this year’s edition of Sanganai/ Hlanganani World Travel and Tourism Expo scheduled for September 6 to 8 at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) grounds in Bulawayo.

Zimbabwe Tourism Authority’s (ZTA) acting head of public relations Ms Hazel Zisanhi said this during a Press conference in Harare on Tuesday.

“Monday saw the first group of buyers arriving from Germany, France, Italy and the Benelux, who are scheduled to undertake various pre-Sanganai tours across the country,” she said.

“The buyers’ arrival is a clear sign of the confidence that the international market has on destination Zimbabwe, especially with the rejuvenated interest that has been exhibited since November 2017.

“It is such an exciting time for Zimbabwe tourism to leverage on this goodwill with the major thrust of regaining the lost market share and increasing tourism traffic to Zimbabwe.”

Ms Zisanhi said the buyers were expected to sample and appreciate the country’s tourism product, which would aid informed packaging across markets.

“The tours will proffer Zimbabwe’s tourism hotspots of Mana Pools, Bumi Hillls, Kariba, Eastern Highlands, Gonarezhou, Masvingo, Victoria Falls, Hwange, Binga, Matopos and Bulawayo,” she said.

“Furthermore, it is anticipated that these buyers will engage in business exchanges and networking with the Zimbabwe tourism industry under one roof during the Sanganai/Hlanganani two-day trade days, September 6 and 7.”

Ms Zisanhi said ZTA would be receiving more groups of buyers and the media from North America, Africa, Asia and   Europe.
