A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD Chipinge boy died last Saturday after a scotch cart he was travelling in with a brother overturned after hitting a stump along Rimai-Mwanyisa Road.

Manicaland police spokesperson Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the death of Laison Ndlovu, who had been briefly left in charge of the cart while his brother, Knowledge, relieved himself.

“Laison (7) and Knowledge Ndlovu (16) from Mwanyisa Village, under Chief Musikavanhu, were in a scotch- cart on their way to Mwanyisa when Knowledge stopped the cart to relieve himself. He left Liason in control of the cart,” said Inspector Kakohwa.

“Laison lost control of the cart and it veered off the road before hitting a stump and throwing him onto the ground. The cart then overturned and fell on him and he died instantly,” said Inspector Kakohwa.

Knowledge alerted elders who reported the matter at Chisumbanje Police Station. Inspector Kakohwa urged people to be cautious when travelling in scotchcarts.
