THE Highlanders executive will meet in Bulawayo today to finalise on the new chief executive officer following inter-views conducted on Sunday.

Club chairman Kenneth Mhlophe confirmed that the executive would meet today to finalise the issue.

Interviews for the post were held on Sunday at the team’s offices where the human resources subcommittee consisting of members of the board and executive carried out the exercise.

“We will finalise who gets the post when we meet on Tuesday,” said Mhlophe. Highlanders chairman, Mhlophe, secretary-general Morgen Dube, vice chairman of the board Cosmas Sikhosana, and Elkanah Dube were part of the interviewing panel.

In modern football, the chief executive’s role is one of the most important in driving the football business and other enterprises within the establishment.

The post fell vacant last month when Ronald Moyo notified Highlanders that he would not seek another three-year term at the helm. His contract expired on Sunday and he is leaving to pursue other interests.

The number of candidates interviewed could not be ascertained as the club has kept a tight lead on protecting their prospective employee who may be compromised at his present place of work.

However, Zimpapers Sports can conclusively say that Sihlangu Dlodlo and Bukhosi Mpofu attended the meeting.

According to sources at the Highlanders Clubhouse, the two seemed to have impressed the panel with their presentations which showed an appreciation of the club, a desire to grow the business portfolio, and exploit the team’s brand equity to the limit.

They spelt out how they value the team’s vision and desire to see the club take its place among the big clubs in the continent through prudent financial management, investment in youth development, and bringing value to card-carrying membership.
