Born Free Crew defies odds

Numerically disadvantaged group, Born Free Crew has defied odds to come up with a musical video to commemorate President Robert Mugabe’s 90th birthday. The group, now left only with two of its original members, DJ Anusa and Bruce, has released a video entitled “Happy Birthday Gushungo” and vowed to stay afloat regardless of their depletion.

“We were more than 10 at some point but the whole idea started with the two of us and now it’s back to us again. We will keep our dream alive of informing the youths and nation at large about what His Excellency has achieved for us,” said Anusa.

The duo revealed to The Herald Entertainment that some of their members had abandoned the ship to pursue other paths.

“Some have shifted focus to their studies while others have completely taken other paths away from music but we enjoy what we do and believe people will continue to appreciate all the good works that the President has done for the nation”, said Bruce.

“Happy Birthday Gushungo” is a video depicting empowered youths, which, as Born Free Crew clearly exhibits, would not have been possible without the revolutionary leadership of President Mugabe.

“The song is actually a prayer through which we ask for more years for our visionary leader who has had us the youths at heart from the onset. Many youths are enjoying the benefits of his policies.

“It is not surprising that more youths are now beginning to understand and appreciate what our dear President is doing and has done for the nation,” said Anusa.  The Born Free Crew began their music roadmap in 2010 and boasts three albums and 19 good videos.
